Where Lucky Orange is stronger
Lucky Orange is more than replays and heatmaps. Its pricing page lists live chat, a live visitor view, conversion funnels, page and form analytics, and surveys and announcements, all on every plan1, and its Shopify listing adds cart abandonment and checkout drop-off tracking by product and step2. Its Shopify listing carries the Built for Shopify badge2. If you'd use those tools, Session Recordings won't replace them: it records visits and makes heatmaps from them, and that's all.
Where Session Recordings is different
- A bigger free allowance. 2,000 recordings a month, each kept 30 days, free forever, against 100 sessions a month on Lucky Orange's free Shopify plan2.
- Nothing recorded before consent. Where your store or site asks for cookie consent, visitors who haven't allowed analytics aren't recorded: on Shopify through Shopify's Customer Privacy, on Wix through the Wix cookie banner. If your store or site doesn't ask for cookie consent, it doesn't wait for it: it records every visitor who clicks, taps or types.
- Form typing masked in the browser. What visitors type into form fields is masked in their browser before it's sent.
- Shopify moments in each replay. On Shopify, the Activity list beside each replay marks every page view, searches with the words used, Add to cart and the press of Check out. Some themes' buttons show as plain clicks, and purchases aren't marked.
- Heatmaps from the same visits. Click and scroll maps for each page, with rage clicks and clicks that did nothing marked, and computers, tablets and phones kept apart. How its heatmaps work.
Moving from Lucky Orange
On Shopify, uninstall Lucky Orange from your Shopify admin: go to Settings > Apps, open the app's menu and click Uninstall4. Shopify notes that some apps leave code in your theme when they're uninstalled, so check with the app's developer whether there's anything to clean up4. Then install Session Recordings, switch on its Session recorder in your theme editor and click Save.
On Wix, delete the tracking code you added for Lucky Orange: its Wix guide adds it as a custom tool under Settings, then Tracking & Analytics3. Then add Session Recordings from the Wix App Market.
Session Recordings starts with your next visitor, so it brings no history across from Lucky Orange.
Frequently asked
Is there a free version of Lucky Orange?
On Shopify, yes: its Shopify App Store listing has a Free plan with 100 sessions a month and 30 days of data storage. Its own pricing page lists no free plan, and offers a 7-day free trial instead. We checked both on October 29, 2026.
Does Session Recordings have live chat or surveys?
No. It records visits and makes click and scroll heatmaps from them. For live chat or surveys you'd need another tool, such as Lucky Orange.
Can I run both?
Yes. Each adds its own script and follows its own consent rules.
Does either record Shopify checkout?
Session Recordings doesn't: your checkout, its thank-you page and customer account pages are never recorded. Lucky Orange's Shopify listing says it tracks cart abandonment and checkout drop-off by product and step.
